Imperfection (Pure Blood)
At the center of a war brewing between two packs: her son
Meara Falk always followed her parents’ rules, until one night in March when the temptation to let loose changed her life forever.
Nine months later, disowned and with a baby on her hip, she discovers werewolves exist after being on the wrong end of some teeth and claws. During her first change, werewolves attack, stealing her son and driving her out of her home.
Now she’s looking for the man who kidnapped her baby and turned her life upside down. Meara’s son is in the middle of a threatened war between two powerful packs. Getting him back will jeopardize the lives of everyone she loves.
About the Phaedra Seabolt
Phaedra Seabolt is the youngest of four and the only girl. She spent her childhood trying to be the best she could be at everything she did which drove her to attend college long enough to attain her master’s degree. Now she is a stay at home mom and happily married.
My Interview with Phaedra:
Share a little bit about yourself. Did you always see yourself as a writer?
I’m a stay at home mom of one with a second on the way. My husband and I are happily married, but trying desperately to sell our house. Due to the house being for sale and my toddler, I pretty much spend my days chasing after him and keeping the place as clean as possible. Naps are my primary chance for writing.
I had planned to be a lot of things in my life, but a writer was just a dream. I was going to be a computer programmer, but hated the office life. I was going to be a math teacher, but I had a baby in September and couldn’t find someone to hire me when I would be missing the first two months of the school year. I ended up teaching college math for a year, which I absolutely LOVED, but was told that I had to get a bachelor’s and master’s degree in straight mathematics to be able to keep my job. Since I was already paying for two degrees, we decided that it wasn’t worth spending more money on more education just so a daycare could raise our son. It wasn’t until I started writing book reviews that my dream of seeing my name in print became something I really felt I could achieve. Thanks to a lot of amazing authors, I took that chance.
Tell us a little bit about this book and the series.
Well Imperfection is about a college girl named Meara Falk. She’s nerdy and overweight, not the standard Miami University student. She’s also a very good girl, meaning she does everything mommy and daddy tell her to do. However, she decides to break the rules one night and ends up in bed with a complete stranger. Her single indiscretion results in a baby. Her life starts spiraling out of control at this point. She gets attacked by a werewolf and her baby is stolen from her by a rival werewolf pack. Now she is on a mission to get her son back.
The entire Pure Blood series is about the battle being waged between two werewolf packs. Meara and her son are the catalysts for the war, but no one really knows why it is taking place. Werewolves were created by vengeful Norse Gods who seem to be stepping in to meddle in both packs’ affairs. Their strings are being pulled without them completely realizing it. One God wishes to punish another God. Another one just wants to make things difficult. A third God is stepping in to wreak havoc among everyone. Who will succeed and will any werewolves survive to tell the tale?
What was the most challenging thing to confront about writing this book?
I had to confront my lack of self confidence in my writing. I write reviews all the time that authors love, but I don’t get a lot of comments from my readers. Sometimes I wonder if anyone ever really reads my reviews. That has left me feeling like my writing might not be worth reading at all, but I have been assured that this story is definitely worth reading. I have had to decide that I can actually tell a story in a way that people will find it interesting and that I should just keep on writing.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
Well I touched on that in question one. I mostly chase around my toddler and clean my house. Not very exciting, I know.
So what book is on your nightstand or on your e-reader right now?
I am actually in between books because I am working on editing my second book in this series, Atonement. However, the next book I am slated to review is Learning to Trust by Cynthia P. O’neill.
Tell us about what you’re working on now and what we can expect from you in the near future.
I am editing book two in the Pure Blood series currently. I intend to outline book three and possibly start it in the next few weeks. I also have a vampire book started, but I don’t know when that one will creep into my time.
JUST FOR FUN: I’m from the Gulf Coast and we have a thing called hurricane parties. The idea is to hunker down all together with friends and family to weather the storm. If you were going to host a hurricane party, which of your characters would have to be invited and why?
Hahaha! Well since most of the characters in my book are loosely based on my friends, I would have to say most of them would be invited. Raechel, Seth, Garret, Leon, and Amanda would definitely be there. One of the men introduced in book two would also be there. His name is James.
